AHRC BGP Studentships at the University of Oxford

The University of Oxford will award around 80 doctoral studentships and 50 Master’s studentships to student starting in October 2012 under the AHRC Block Grant Partnership (BGP) scheme. The studentships are available in 19 of the subject areas funded by the AHRC.

Deadline for October 2012 entry:

20 January 2012, except Philosophy, where the deadline is 6 January 2012.

Note: some postgraduate programmes at the University of Oxford have more than one deadline. If you wish to be considered for an AHRC BGP studentship, you must apply by the January deadline.

Eligibility: In order to be eligible for an AHRC award you must:

  • apply for a programme of study which is eligible for AHRC funding;
  • meet certain academic eligibility criteria;
  • be ordinarily resident in the UK or in another European Union country.

How to apply: All applicants for admission to a Master's degree or doctoral degree at the University of Oxford who are deemed to meet the AHRC eligibility criteria will be considered for AHRC studentships, based on their applications for admission to the University.

New students: Applicants who are not currently studying for a postgraduate degree at the University of Oxford should tick the relevant box on the application form for admission to a Master's or doctoral degree at the University. You are not required to complete a separate form to apply for an AHRC studentship.

Current Master's students: If you are currently studying for a Master's degree at Oxford, and you wish to apply for admission to a doctoral programme at Oxford without a break in study between the two degrees, you can apply for readmission via the University's Embark system.  

Current doctoral students: If you have already started your doctoral degree at the University of Oxford, you should complete the AHRC Form for Current Oxford DPhil Students.
