Procedure for applicants applying through Oxford
We are keen to encourage prospective Postdoctoral Fellows from outside Oxford to explore the possibility of applying through the Humanities Division, as well as those currently based here. Initially, you should make contact with the person at Oxford who you would like to be your mentor, and ask if they would be prepared to undertake this role. Once they have agreed, follow the steps laid out in the application procedures below.
There is a two stage application process each year, with the deadline for outline applications falling in late September/early October and for the second stage in February or early March the following year, for Fellowships to be taken up at the beginning of the following academic year.
Please note: The procedure outlined below applies to applications made through the Humanities Division’s Research Facilitation team. If you expect to be based in the History Faculty, you should contact the Research Development Officer in the Faculty, Aileen Mooney, at
The Humanities Division has its own internal deadlines for submission of draft applications for feedback to its Research Facilitators, and for submission of the final application via e-GAP2, to allow time for internal administrative processes to be complete before the Academy’s deadline.
Our internal guidance for the autumn 2011 deadline is now available below. Further information is available from the British Academy and the Academy's e-GAP2 system .
