Initial public consultation for new building launched

We are presenting our initial plans to build a new Centre for the Humanities which is open to the public, ahead of submitting a planning application next year.

You can view the consultation boards and submit feedback here

This public consultation will run from 18 November to 8 December 2020.

Professor Karen O'Brien, Head of Humanities at Oxford University, said: “We are delighted to launch this initial public consultation on our proposed centre for the Humanities. The centre will be a significant boost for research and teaching of the Humanities at Oxford. This will be an open building with a cafe into which we very much want to invite residents of our city and county, schoolchildren and visitors to Oxford, and we hope all will attend our events and performances. We look forward to working in partnership with the city as we develop our vision for the building."

Following this consultation, we will continue to evolve the design proposal for the new building, taking into consideration any comments received from this public consultation. The intention is to undertake a second public consultation once the design has progressed and prior to the submission of a planning application.
