Marilyn Booth and Jokha Alharthi win the Man Booker International Prize 2019

Marilyn Booth, Khalid bin Abdullah Al Saud Professor for the Study of the Contemporary Arab World, has won the Man Booker International Prize 2019 alongside Jokha Alharthi for the novel Celestial Bodies. The novel was translated by Marilyn Booth from Arabic and published by Sandstone Press.

Jokha Alharthi, the first female Omani novelist to be translated into English, is the first author from the Arabian Gulf to win the prize.
