Report and panel discussion marks 100th anniversary of PPE

100 years ago this autumn, the first ever crop of Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) students began their studies at Oxford.

Since then the degree has been replicated in 33 countries and its graduates have gone on to make significant impacts in a wide range of fields.

In the UK, it has also acquired fame - or infamy - for educating so many senior government politicians.

To mark the anniversary, the Humanities and Social Sciences Divisions commissioned a report into the history of PPE. It was written by Dr Bethany White, Dr Samuel Wainwright and DPhil candidate Lilly Schreiter.

On Saturday 12th September, the University also hosted a panel event to discuss the degree featuring some of PPE's most prominent and successful alumni. Broadcaster Evan Davis chaired the panel consisting of Mayor Pete Buttigieg, novelist Monica Ali, and journalist Mary Ann Sieghart.
