Professor Abigail Williams has been appointed Executive Dean for the Arts and Humanities at King's College London from the start of 2026.
Professor Williams is currently Professor of English in the Faculty of English Language and Literature; and the Humanities Division's Associate Head of Research and Innovation.
Professor Dan Grimley, Head of Humanities at Oxford University, said: "This significant appointment is fitting recognition of Professor Williams' work as our Associate Head for Research and Innovation. During her time as Associate Head, Abby has led vital work streams improving our research culture, preparing for our future REF submission, and to making the case for the incredible innovative potential of the humanities.
"All the while, she has continued to pursue her own research and bring the results of that work to a wide audience, including developing and presenting an acclaimed BBC radio series. I hope to have the chance to collaborate with Abby on a sector-wide campaign to advocate for the value of humanities once she has got her feet under the desk at KCL."
