Our scholars and students explore what it means to be human. Conversation and debate which are sensitive to the nuances of language and context as well as to the challenges and opportunities presented by cultural translation are the vehicles by which our work advances. We believe that it is only by embracing difference, challenging power structures and exploring the multi-faceted nature of human experience that we can both contribute to a vibrant and meaningful academic environment for all and continue to push intellectual boundaries.
The Humanities Division values its staff and students, and we are proud of the steps we are taking to promote, celebrate and support equality and diversity across the Division and our faculties. We aim to create both a workplace and a learning environment that is inclusive and respectful of all its members. We adhere to the University's Equality Policy.
The menu on the left gives a flavour of what is happening across the Division. For more information, or if you have any comments, ideas or questions, please get in touch with Isabelle Pitt, the Humanities Division's Equality and Diversity Officer, or with Professor Jane Garnett, the Division's Equality and Diversity Academic Lead.
We have a SharePoint site for Humanities staff who want to access further information and frequently used documents on Equality and Diversity.
