Professor Marion Turner, who is a professor of English Literature and Chair of the English Faculty Board, has received outstanding reviews for her new book.

‘The Wife of Bath: A Biography’, which was published last week by Princeton University Press, reexamines one of literary history’s best-known characters: Alison the Wife of Bath from Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales. Professor Turner previous wrote a biography of Chaucer.

Her latest book is described as “the story of [Chaucer’s] most popular and scandalous character, from the Middle Ages to #MeToo”. It was The Guardian’s Book of the Day and Professor Turner was also interviewed on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour and Radio 3’s Free Thinking.
