A senior UN official will discuss the future of global cooperation in a special event at the Schwarzman Centre next Thursday (19 March).
Amina J. Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and Chair of the United Nations Sustainable Development Group, will give a talk titled 'Foundations and Futures: Reimagining the Architecture of Global Cooperation'. It will be held in the Sohmen Concert Hall, beginning at 5pm.
In the lecture, the Deputy Secretary-General will examine what happens when the architecture fails: sovereignty becomes negotiable, development gains reverse, and the institutions meant to protect peace struggle to respond to a changing world. She will argues that this moment of rupture is an opportunity to rebuild for an uncertain future.
The lecture will be followed by a conversation and Q&A with Baroness Valerie Amos, Master of University College, Oxford; international jurist and human rights expert Mr Adama Dieng; and Anneliese Dodds, Labour Member of Parliament for Oxford East.
