This prestigious annual lecture is the highpoint of the year in the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages at the University of Oxford and we are honoured that this year’s lecture will be given by Neil MacGregor.

Neil MacGregor has had a remarkable career including the Directorship of the National Gallery and of the British Museum. He is currently a Founding Director of the Humboldt Forum in Berlin.

Along the way he has found time to make well-known programmes for British television and radio, including A History of the World in 100 Objects and Shakespeare’s Restless World. In 2014 his radio series ‘Germany: Memories of a Nation’, accompanied by a major exhibition in the British Museum and a book of the same title, was notably successful in bringing the complex history of Germany to a British and international audience.
