Our frozen statue and season's greetings from Oxford Humanities

fountain

A festive message from Professor Dan Grimley, Head of Humanities:

The statue of Triton outside the Radcliffe Humanities building plays many roles.

In spring and summer, the water from his fountain houses our local ducks who love to visit while raising their ducklings. In winter, he serves as a barometer for when the temperature drops below freezing. But rarely has a frost led to such impressive icicles as in this photo by my colleague Ebenezer Dariye.

I'd like to take this opportunity to wish everyone in Oxford Humanities, Oxford University and the wider community a merry festive season, and a fresh and rejuvenated start to the New Year.

Best wishes

Dan
