Jihai (Hedy) is an MSc Digital Scholarship candidate focusing on the future of work - how AI might be shaping the emerging workforce. This research tackles questions of value: humanity's worth in the time of AI. Combining ethnography with data science methods such as text mining, machine learning, and natural language processing, it aims to weave thick description with big data to capture both lived experience and broader social currents.
Holding a BSc in Anthropology from University College London, Jihai has a strong foundation in ethnography and social theory. Their previous work spans science and technology studies, meme culture, performativity, and economic anthropology. Beyond academia, they have worked extensively in human-computer interaction and user experience (UX) design at IKEA and Forvia. Hoping to connect emerging talent with experts, they also recently founded the UX Design Society. In their free time, they find joy in art, journalism, and table tennis.
