British Academy International Fellowships
The next call for the British Academy International Fellowships will open in early- to mid-January 2027, and close in early- to mid-March 2027.
The University is limited to submitting a maximum of eight candidates, and therefore there will be an internal selection stage, and the deadline for expressions of interest is 12 noon (UK time) 25 November 2026.
The BA International Fellowships are two-year Fellowships - however, the eligibility requirements are complex and you are advised to read the guidance on the BA website carefully once this is available. The eligibility requirements are likely to include:
- Have a PhD from a non-UK University, or will have had their viva-voce before 1 June 2027.
- normally no more than five years of full-time postdoc experience, including teaching experience;
- not holding UK citizenship;
- not lived or worked in the UK in the 12 months prior to the application deadline;
- and not already living, working or undertaking research in the UK.

You should make contact with the member of staff who you would like to act as your supervisor for the Fellowship, and ensure that they are supportive before applying. Your supervisor must be a permanent member of staff.
If your supervisor is in one of the Humanities Faculties or Institutes, you should complete the EoI form and send it to: research.support@humanities.ox.ac.uk The deadline is 12 noon (UK time) 25 November 2026. Expressions of Interest received after this will not be considered.
